A Motivational Overview of Voter’s Revenge

(I recently wrote the following – now slightly edited – to introduce a MAGA type candidate for office in NJ to this project. I mostly sought the meeting to find out why nobody seems interested in the project. Solicitations for support almost always received no answer, at all.)

The purpose of the Voter’s Revenge app is to be a “force multiplier” tool for citizens to exert a real effect on primarily incumbents (but secondarily for first-time candidates; and also members of the administrative state, who don’t stand for election).

An analogy:

I used to work for a small business that delivered food from various local restaurants. This was 20 years ago, before doordash, ubereats, etc.  We would take orders over the phone, frantically write them down, and add up totals with a calculator.

I wrote an order-taking program, for back-office use, which automated the process. It became much faster, and much, much less stressful. If we had had a higher call volume, it would have been useful to greatly increase throughput, with the same staff (basically 2 people).

So, what I wrote could be described as a tool which greatly increased efficiency. That is inherent in the mindset of a programmer. There is nothing terribly novel about an order-taking program. The value-added is in enhancing a common paradigm.

Likewise, I don’t consider Voter’s Revenge to be particularly sexy or techy. It is, rather, designed to facilitate and automate already-recognized political processes.

While the original version of Voter’s Revenge basically worked, I’ve completely abandoned it. A re-write using modern frameworks and techniques is all but necessary. Not least because the original version wouldn’t render in a mobile device. I basically don’t like using mobile devices for serious work, but this particular app is amenable to a mobile device. I’ve also had a few years to think about what was unappealing about the old version – even to me.

There are 2 major modes that the program is used for. Rather than trying to explain them in detail, I will instead make the case, from other sources, that each mode is well-motivated. I will just consider the most important target of dealing with incumbents. Further details can be had at the blog site votersrevenge.info.

Influencing an Elected Official  During their Election Season

this corresponds to the voteslinger posse mode in Voter’s Revenge. voteslingers make redline demands such that the payback for violating their redline is a vote against the incumbent, in either a primary or general election

Pam Popper is a long time activist against medical tyranny.

The following is the money quote from an interview of Pam Popper by Spiro Skouras. The program is called Spiro Skouras w/ Dr. Pam Popper: The Lawsuit That Could End Covid-1984 @ https://tinyurl.com/25m55dby (on odysee.com). I highly recommend listening to the whole interview, which is only 31 minutes, long. It’s sort of obvious, I hope, that a tool like Voter’s Revenge would facilitate and accelerate the specific kind of effective organizing and activism that Pam Popper calls for.

Look, last time you won your election by a couple of thousand votes. We have almost 20,000 voters in your district, and if you don’t vote to impeach {?}, we’re going to take you out this November, and I brought a list of our registered voters so you can see that I’m serious. We could have had the impeachment done in a week, if we had that kind of thing {i.e., list of registered voters willing to vote incumbents out of office}. WE HAVE TO REALIZE, JUST LIKE WE LEARNED FROM THE LAWSUITS THAT DIDN’T WORK, WE HAVE TO LOOK AT – DECLARATIONS DIDN’T WORK; PETITIONS DON’T WORK; EMAILS DON’T WORK; AND EDUCATING POLITICIANS DOESN’T WORK WITH BIG PACKETS OF INFORMATION ABOUT HEALTH AND ALL THAT STUFF. NONE OF THAT WORKS. YOU KNOW WHAT WORKS? EDUCATION ABOUT TAKING THEM OUT. THAT’S THE LANGUAGE THEY UNDERSTAND. And so, one of the reasons we want to build this database is so that we can start undoing the medical tyranny that exists – these vaccine mandates in places like Oregon, and Washington and California and keep bad things from happening in the future. And unless we’re organized with 10’s of millions of people in our database, we will most certainly end up here, again.

Influencing an Elected Official  Outside their Election Season

this corresponds to the wrangler posse mode in Voter’s Revenge. wranglers punish incumbents for violating their redlined demands primarily by shaming and/or educating the incumbent’s electorate about their incumbents’ failure

Although it’s much harder to influence a Congress critter who is far from elections season (imagine a US Senator 2 months into his/her 6 year term….), the means for doing so was well articulated by progressive blogger Ian Welsh. (Please be aware that, relative to strong progressive voters, the Democratic Party is not very progressive. The relationship between genuine progressives and the Democratic Party is strongly analogous to the relationship between constitutional conservatives and the Republican Party.)

From: Why Obama And Democrats Don’t Do Much of What Liberals Want (Netroots Failure: Part 2) @ https://www.ianwelsh.net/why-obama-and-democrats-dont-do-much-of-what-liberals-want-netroots-failure-part-2/

Politicians do most things because someone wants them done who can hold them accountable if they don’t do it. That includes bad things, and good things. Anyone who doesn’t understand this reality doesn’t understand even the most basic part of politics.

Note that gays were originally ignored by Obama as well.  What did they do?  They got in Obama’s face personally, heckling him and they organized a very effective donor boycott.  As a result, they got much (but not all) of what they wanted from him.

Holding someone accountable means “inflicting pain”.  If they don’t do what you want, you must be able to do something to them they don’t like (heckling), or take away something they want (money).

Like FDL or not, the last serious attempt by left-wingers other than gays to hold Obama accountable was when they refused to go along with the Affordable Care Act if it didn’t include a public option.  FDL said “if this bill has no public option, we won’t support it.”  When it didn’t, they didn’t.  You may think that’s not a good red-line, but they had a red line.  Of course FDL, virtually alone, did not have the juice: they could not inflict enough pain or take away enough funding  or create enough bad publicity for Obama to care, especially when powerful interests (read: insurance companies), didn’t want a public option.  (For doing so, FDL was attacked by all the usual suspects on “left-wing” blogs and labelled firebaggers.)

Political power is constituted of getting people elected, getting people unelected and being able to reward or punish people for doing or not doing what you want. If you can’t do any of those things, you have no power.

This is realpolitik.

A Key Point:

Voter’s Revenge is what I call a “Negative Vote Bloc Technology”.  It is not designed to directly get anybody elected (which is what a positive vote bloc technology would be useful for.)  It is, rather, designed to either make re-election impossible (via voteslinger actions) or difficult (via wrangler actions) if the politician crosses the redlines defined by the voteslinger and wrangler posses, respectively. I have elaborated on this notion in the votersrevenge blog, Negative Vote Blocs vs. Positive Vote Blocs – which could prove more disruptive in the near future? @ https://www.votersrevenge.info/?m=201605 While there have been efforts in the direction of positive vote blocs (such as Nancy Bordier’s https://votersunited.global/ ), AFAIK, they are not having an impact. Of course, successful negative vote blocs could ease the path to successful adoption of more powerful positive vote blocs.

A Critical Point:

Wranglers should be fully acquainted with the the, ahem, loyalty engendering techniques used by the Israeli lobby. In particular, they should be aware of the utility of forcing Congress critters to affirm some declaration that is sympathetic to their posse’s goal, even if the declaration changes no laws. This process is described in the youtube documentary The Israel Lobby in the US – VPRO documentary – 2007. I link to this in my votersrevenge blog post Israel Lobby Techniques Could/Should be Appropriated Into (mostly) Wrangler Actions, and a note on Political Game Theory (sketch) @ https://www.votersrevenge.info/?p=108

In terms of the Voters’ Revenge paradigms, this means that wrangler posses, in particular, should employ similar ‘affirmational’ techniques against politicians. If, e.g., a 2 month period is settled on for setting fresh redlines, there is no guarantee that a non-symbolic, more impactful piece of legislation could be voted on during this period. In which case, the posse demand could be more along the lines of voting support for the sort of non-binding resolutions spoken of in  documentary The Israel Lobby in the US – VPRO documentary – 2007.

Furthermore, as Voter’s Revenge posses will start out with considerably less clout than the Israeli lobby, there is no guarantee that even a non-binding resolutions can be forced to a vote. (Apparently, the Israeli Lobby can force symbolic vote issues, at will.) In which case, the posses will have to settle for, e.g., an attestation that will be reproduced on both youtube (etc.) and the politician’s website.

A Final Point:

Voteslinger posses can’t vote against derelict members of the administrative state, such as Anthony Fauci, who never stand for election. However, wrangler posses could still work their magic. Indeed, it’s become increasingly clear to me, due to the covid response (which was constrained and even sabotaged by members of the bureaucracy) that posses dedicated to shaming nefarious non-elected individuals into reputational oblivion are just as important as those targeting elected officials. Punitive wrangler actions directed against bureaucrats carry the same “teach the public” potential as those directed against elected politicians. Furthermore, if the wrangler posses are loud enough, elected officials will also feel some of the reflected heat.

(If anybody doubts that the public health related bureaucracies were dysfunctional, they can do worse than start their research by listening to evolutionary biologist Brett Weinstein, interviewed by Freddi Sayers of the Unherd Youtube channel, in Bret Weinstein: I will be vindicated over Covid )

Israel Lobby Techniques Could/Should be Appropriated Into (mostly) Wrangler Actions, and a note on Political Game Theory (sketch)

I don’t want to take the time to write a proper diary. Hence this sketch.

The purpose of this sketch is mostly to illumine how to use Voter’s Revenge in the US political scene. While I hope the translation into Voter’s Revenge mechanism is obvious, it’s worth mentioning that the need to influence people related to a particular Congress critter is also made clear. (In the quotation below, the influencers/influenced are other Congress critters, also.) That there also needs to be effort directed at political relations to the primary target is (as I understand it) well known in political game theory. See the NY Times article on Bueno de Mesquita “Can Game Theory Predict When Iran Will Get the Bomb?”. While Voter’s Revenge targets are typically elected officials (as I originally envisioned it), the dysfunctional US response to covid 19 clearly indicates targets should be widened to include non-elected public officials. E.g., I highly recommend this lecture by Scott Atlas, who regularly tried to argue science (complete with referenced studies!) at task force meeting with the likes of Fauci, Birx, and Redfield. Fauci, Birx and Redfield never argued nor presented any science at the task force meetings. Fauci, Birx and Redfield should be shamed out of office, even if we can’t vote them out.  (I don’t know whether Birx or Redfield are still collecting a Federal paycheck, while they betray the American people.)  The SARS2 Pandemic: Will Truth Prevail? | Scott Atlas | Academy for Science & Freedom | LIVESTREAM

The SARS2 Pandemic: Will Truth Prevail? | Scott Atlas | Academy for Science & Freedom | LIVESTREAM

I recommend everybody watch the following documentary about the Israeli Lobby, which punches FAR above it’s weight, in terms of America’s percentage of Jewish population. (Indeed, the Israeli lobby promotes elite and conservative Israeli policy, which is often at odds with more liberal American Jews).

The Israel Lobby in the US – VPRO documentary – 2007

In particular: 26:40 – 30:54.

26:40

I also

26:43

wanna mention former member of Congress

26:45

impact does an excellent job of

26:49

constantly testing the loyalty of people

26:52

in Congress to their cause and so

26:55

there’s a constant stream of resolutions

26:57

that get proposed on the Mideast

27:00

expressing support for Israel about

27:04

something it’s done or sympathy with

27:06

victims of a suicide bombing or

27:09

condemning Iran or other people in the

27:12

region who are being hostile to Israel

27:15

and these become tests of sort of

27:17

loyalty of people in Congress on this

27:20

issue and those who vote in the way that

27:23

AIPAC wants will ultimate well in many

27:27

ways be rewarded ultimately with with

27:29

campaign contributions from people

27:31

sympathetic to a better day back itself

27:33

does not give money but they sort of

27:35

this whole series of votes and and

27:40

they’re very careful cataloging of how

27:43

people vote very much affects where

27:45

people make decisions about who to give

27:48

the money to money does not flow into a

27:50

particular congressman’s coffers or

27:52

senators coffers and unless he supports

27:55

positions taken by the lobby that’s

27:57

that’s their first I think major

27:59

influence is money and this

28:02

administration is awash in money more so

28:07

probably than any administration in

28:10

American history

28:11

for two months we’ve been trying to get

28:14

in contact with Congress people who

28:16

voted nay to certain of the bills that

28:18

were supported by a bank but nobody

28:22

wanted to speak to us is that normal

28:25

yeah this is an issue where Congress

28:28

person will see no gain to be made by

28:30

speaking on it just even voting against

28:33

a pax recommended positions is is

28:35

perilous for them because it can lead to

28:38

a reduction in campaign funds it can

28:41

create all kinds of problems in their

28:42

home district but they voted nay I mean

28:44

they did but they don’t want to go even

28:48

more public about it a film clip in

28:51

particular can you imagine a campaign

28:53

opponent using that it could become the

28:55

basis of a of a negative campaign ad and

28:59

look this person is against Israel’s

29:02

interest so when I whenever I have

29:07

spoken to people on Capitol Hill about

29:09

this it’s almost always on a not for

29:11

attribution basis

29:22

I was told off the record once by a very

29:29

prominent Democratic senator we were at

29:32

a meeting in Paris and it was late in

29:35

the evening sitting in the hotel he was

29:37

talking about the Middle East and he was

29:39

saying things about Israel which were

29:40

very similar to the criticisms that I

29:42

would make and so I said to him but you

29:45

never say these things in the Senate why

29:48

not

29:48

is it because you’re worried about the

29:50

Jewish vote you said forget him it’s

29:52

nothing to do with the Jewish vote I

29:54

come from a state I can’t tell you where

29:56

because I wasn’t um where there are very

30:00

few Jews and they all going to vote for

30:02

me anyway so it doesn’t matter so it’s

30:04

not the Jewish vote that’s not the issue

30:05

it’s not money I don’t get money from

30:07

the Israel lobby that’s not the issue

30:08

but he said suppose that I walk onto the

30:12

Senate floor and say in a moving speech

30:15

why we need to take our distance from

30:18

Israel understand better what has

30:21

happened to the Palestinians maybe I

30:23

would win five ten senators over to a

30:27

general motion criticizing his for

30:31

maximum he said but that’s all I could

30:34

get and he said in return I would be

30:37

finished in the Senate because no one

30:40

would ever vote again for my needs if I

30:45

wanted to move something from my state

30:48

or an education bill or a financial bill

30:51

or a tax bill or anything to do with

30:52

domestic policy nothing to do with

30:54

Israel I would be punished

As most of the resolutions are “tests of loyalty”, and not major policy bills, it makes sense to me to use the less extreme punishments inherent in Wrangler actions, as opposed to the terminal Voteslinger action of punitive voting

Outsourcing Blues, No Volunteers or Contributors, Approaching Limbo

All of the outsourced sub-projects have so far proven disappointing, with 2 of them very disappointing. Nobody has delivered everything specified in anything like within the initially agreed upon deadline. The database/API project auto-approved by accident, with the only thing delivered being a database. This database had easily fixable errors, that the programmer bizarrely refused to fix, or even acknowledge. I could have done – correctly – what was delivered in a hour or two. The programmer who got his easy $200 then disappeared. I assume he realized he’d actually have to work to make right the auto-approve error, as well as the remaining bulk of the work.

The timeline control outsourcer asked to cancel, after taking 2 months to complete about 50% of the requirements, and asking for another $100. I accepted his cancellation, yesterday….

The slack clone outsourcer was given permission/blessing to be a few weeks late, as his sub-project is sort of orthogonal to the rest of the project. He strikes me as competent, but has not made any changes to the code base for 5 weeks.

All attempts to get funding and/or volunteer coders have failed, so far.

For personal reasons, I need to focus on another software project, plus maintain my other jobs.

So, this project is headed for limbo. In an optimistic case scenario, I guess that I will be able to work on coding it, directly, in 3 months. In a best case scenario, I will be able to pay more dedicated/capable/expensive outsourced coders in 3 months – 6 months.

Q & A

One of the developers I outsourced to had a number of questions, which will hopefully be useful to other people.

Who is the wrangler and deputy?

This app is basically for US citizens, though can be modified relatively easily for citizens of other political systems. Indeed, while the voteslinger role only makes sense in a democracy, wranglers operate principally by shaming and educating, not voting. So, in principle, the app should be useful for activists in other countries, at least those not too authoritarian.

A deputy is basically an assistant administrator. The sheriff and deputies don’t have many advantages over wranglers and deputies; and I can’t think of any that would impact the database design. But, if you’re curious, you can read the other specs for insights into the differences. E.g., the slack clone spec makes clear that messaging limits for wranglers and voteslingers basically don’t apply to deputies and sheriffs.

Is Wrangler the person who knows people about the misdeeds of the politicians? If yes then please just answer about the deputy.

Well, I would hope that posse members generally know about the misdeeds of politicians, even before joining a posse. The wrangler role is one of the two main activist roles that are more about affecting the politician. The “educational” aspect that I refer to is subsumed under this targeting of the politician. It is more about educating people outside the posse – i.e., the general voting public. The slack clone can be used to keep people inside the posse knowledgeable about specific issues. I expect people inside the posse already know most of what they need to know, to have an opinion on how bad the politician is with respect to the particlar posse issue.

One Posse will only point to one politician and one issue means one posse member/registrant cannot point/address two issues at once?

I’m not 100% sure I understand your question, but the short answer seems to be “no”. On Day 1, there will be 3 issues already defined, so for any given target/politician, there can be at least 3 types of posse. A user can join all 3 posses, if he/she feels strongly about all of the issues. While I expect most users will only join 1 local posse for each posse they belong to, viz. the one closest to their home, there is no reason to restrict them to activities related to only one such local posse. So, e.g., they can be wranglers in a local posse in their hometown, as well as another town.

Can one user join multiple posse have the same issue? Or Can one user join multiple local posse and have the same issue?

Yes, one can join multiple posses that have the same issue. E.g., each state in the US has 2 Senators. If they are both bad on an issue, the citizens they represent will need tools to affect both of them.

Similarly, joining local posses that have the same issue is no problem

When one considers the voteslinger role, in particular, however, this becomes somewhat more complex; Mostly this is because we don’t want to fraudulently inflate counts of voteslingers. A citizen can, generally, only (legally) vote once (I think some states or localities may be introducing ranked choice voting; also, some have special runoff elections; I am ignoring all such complexities). So, if we want to know how many voteslingers have pledged to vote against target X, we cannot double count, triple count, etc., the total number of voteslingers by ignoring the fact that the same user is present in multiple posses and local posses. Also, if the system gets widespread adoption, we can expect that multiple posses (not local posses) will appear, with different sheriffs, but the same issue and target; and a user may want to join more than 1 of these posses. At a minimum, we will have to now divide such a user’s contribution to the total count of voteslinger, in each posse.

In the Day 1 implementation, while I don’t think it’s worthwhile to forbid this scenario, I will simply recommend to avoid it by forbidding it as a business rule, which doesn’t even need to be implemented in front end code or database rule. I.e., I can just advise the super_sheriff to take care not to have duplicate posse ‘signatures’ (target + issue). However, now that you’ve got me thinking about it, the GraphQL API should anticipate this scenario, and do the the voteslinger count division. If no voteslinger is present in posses with identical signatures, then the count of voteslingers will be the same, anyway. Also, now that I think about it, for wranglers it would be better to double/triple/etc. count membership across posse signatures (unlike a voteslinger), while still avoiding double counting across posse/local posse boundaries.

As far as joining multiple local posses having the same issue, that is definitely allowed. For citizens with a lot of time on their hands, I would even encourage it. For those who don’t have such a luxury, it wouldn’t make much sense, to me.

What is the procedure/flow to become a posse? Does it only require a simple registration or anything else?

This is basically covered in the front end spec. Joining a posse requires a basic email registration. The main difference is we demand an approximate location, for membership in a local posse as an activist member. (And we ask for it, in case they are just joining a posse as a follower). Theoretically, wranglers could be overseas, in which case, revealing their location to other posse members will not be useful. But, that is the exception.

We actually don’t want an exact location, for security reasons. Approximate locations, accurate to within, say, 1/2 mile to 2 miles, should suffice to encourage face-to-face meetings.

Is this application dealing with US citizens or the whole world?

Day 1, US. However, it’s an open source project, and I hope it’s useful enough in the US that other citizens adopt it to fit their needs. I’m particularly grieved at what’s happening in Australia and New Zealand. So-called “democratic” countries are trampling on their citizens’ rights, using covid as an excuse. So, the medical tyranny issue should be, and in many cases is, foremost in their minds.

I’m still confused about one thing: why the deputy/wrangler/sheriff of one posse is not the wrangler, posse, deputy of all local posse belong to that specific posse?

Well, the idea of a local posse is to encourage group activities, with in-person interaction. Even in a relatively small state, like New Jersey, it can easily take 3 hours to drive across the state. How often can one participate in a face-to-face activity with somebody 3 hours away?

Who is a voteslinger?

A voteslinger is a user who has taken a pledge to vote AGAINST a politician, if they do not meet a voteslinger redline demand that the voteslinger has adopted. It is not revocable. A wrangler, OTOH, can turn around and vote for the politician that they have acted against. “voteslinger” is a play on the US Wild West stock character of “gunslinger”.

My expectation is that, during the last part of an elected politician’s term, the voteslinger role will be most effective in controlling the politician. But during the beginning and middle part of the term, the wrangler role will be more effective. Consider the 6 year term of a US Senator, who just got elected. If you say to such a person “do this, or we will vote you out of office in 6 years”, the Senator will probably laugh, knowing full well that you will likely not be as motivated in 6 years; and fail to attract a significant following who will be committed to act in 6 years.

Are you targeting to make it a mobile or web application?

Well, the user facing part, that I call the front end, will use vue, and thus will be a web app. But, I’m mostly concerned about it being very usable in a mobile device; hence, the simplicity and the fact that my main wireframe is for a mobile footprint.

For the back end business part, I am also looking at a web app, but it doesn’t need to look good in a mobile footprint. (I personally don’t like using small footprint devices, except when there’s no choice.)

Is it possible that one person has one role in the posse and a different role in local posse?

In terms of admin roles vs. non-admin roles, that is definitely true. You can be a wrangler in a posse. But you can also be the sheriff in one of it’s local posses, based on your neighborhood.

I didn’t completely think through the various possibilities for the more activist roles of voteslinger and wrangler, but I will try to do so, now. I hope I don’t contradict anything else I’ve written. I think, at a minimum, I will have to finish revising the front end spec to reflect what I’m now going to write….

If you are a wrangler in a local posse, you are a wrangler in the parent posse. Same with voteslinger.

However, if a person automatically inherits those roles in a local posse, that creates a problem, mostly because we want to allow users to join many local posses of the same posse, and the user may not want to play the same role as a member in different local posses. (Say, because this implies participation in group activities that, while not required, are encouraged.)

So, I’ll say that a wrangler in a posse CAN join a local posse as a wrangler, WITHOUT taking on any new pledge, if they so desire. So, they will the benefits of the role of a wrangler, but not have any new obligation (in the form of a pledge) usually associated with the wrangler role. Alternatively, the posse wrangler could join the local posse as just a follower. Another possibility is that, if they’re not a votelslinger in the parent posse, they can join the local posse as a voteslinger (which automatically makes them a voteslinger in the parent posse)

Similarly, a voteslinger in a posse can join a local posse as a voteslinger, WITHOUT taking on any new pledge, if they so desire. Or, join as just a follower in the local posse.

So, to summarize, if you are a voteslinger in a parent posse, you can join any local posse without taking on any additional pledges, as a voteslinger. However, you can alternately chose to join as just a follower.

Similarly, if you are a wrangler in a parent posse, you can join any local posse without taking on any additional pledges, as a wrangler. However, you can alternately chose to join as just a follower.

If you are a wrangler, but not a voteslinger, in a parent posse, and want to join a local posse as a voteslinger, you will have to take a voteslinger pledge.

Similarly, if you are a voteslinger, but not a wrangler, in a parent posse, and want to join a local posse as a wrangler, you will have to take a wrangler pledge.

Difference between target and issues related to posse?

Each posse has exactly 1 issue they’re concerned about, and exactly 1 target, or politician. The politician will typically be somebody already holding office, but need not be. From a strategic point of view, these issues should be major ones, at least during the initial phase of adoption. On Day 1, when the app is ready for practical use by the public, if I have any influence on what’s actually offered, there will only be the 3 issues I define. But that is not a given. Furthermore, the system should eventually allow a much larger number of issues to define posses. Of course, since it’s open source, people will be able to create or subscribe to their own provider, who will allow the sorts of issues they are concerned with. Too many issues will lead to fragmentation of effort. Too few will alienate citizens whose main concerns are not addressed. A sweet spot needs to be aimed for, but it should be driven what the public wants.

BTW, I’m actually leery about “what the public wants”. Even a much improved democracy will be no better than it’s citizens. See the youtube “Why Socrates Hated Democracy” for insights. I’m not super optimistic about what a non-corrupted democracy (actually, in the US, democratic republic) would look like. But certainly what we have in the US is a horror. There is a democratic façade, but the real power structure is something called “inverted totalitarianism” In a nutshell, financial interests (primarily) have co-opted the government.

Specifications for the new ‘Voters Revenge’ app

I have broken up the app into a number of pieces. A final piece will be to integrate everything. I’ve not even begun the spec for a backend piece, that will be used to enter data for politicians, as well as provide an interface for admins (super_sheriff and sheriffs; maybe deputies, also) to assign admin status to others. I am tentatively planning to order this done with umbraco + Sql Server. On Day 1 (if we can call it that, since I’m not actually planning to do the final integration, myself) the slack-like message board will run off of a different server and database, entirely. So there needs to be some sort of OAuth service written.

The NOT DONE – SHARE – FE Reqs.pdf file is of a spec that has not been finally edited, or ordered. I haven’t yet placed an order for SHARE FE-DB Reqs, though I posted the project for bidders.

Note: the voters_revenge.bacpac file was the only thing that the developer who took up the SHARE FE – DB Reqs spec delivered. It does not have any test data, and uses lots of nchar types, instead of nvarchar types, as I had requested. A huge disappointment, considering what I paid for it….

Outsourcing Begun

I have switched to writing specs and outsourcing pieces of the application, so far just using fiverr.com. The first piece to be delivered will probably be a messaging board, similar to slack, which will have distinct presentations for posses, as well as for local posses. A local posse is a subset of a posse whose members (ideally) live very close to each other. Except for sheriffs and deputies, messaging is limited, since I want to encourage “action, action, action”, as Steve Bannon (of War Room Pandemic fame), likes to say. So, a key use for messaging boards will be for easily coordinating face-to-face, public facing actions and ‘mini-meetings’ by local posse members who live nearby.

I’ve also decided that the 3 main issues that posses can form over on the Day 1 proof of concept implementation, are as follows:

  • Vote Steal 2020
  • Medicare for All
  • Medical Tyranny

Vote Steal 2020 will mostly appeal to conservatives and Republicans, though that’s unfortunate, in my view. I spoke to a Bernie Sanders supporter (online) soon after Hillary Clinton ‘won’ the NY state primary, in 2016. He had been on the ground, and was adamant that Sanders had won, but was cheated. Later, exit polling was suspended for the California Democratic primary. Furthermore, in 2020, I’m suspicious that Mitch McConnel won, fairly. See this blog post, by Kevin Barrett. (Forgive the rude title.) Democrats have, in the past, shown sincere interest in honest elections. In particular, Rush Holt, who I heard address this issue maybe 15 years, ago, at Princeton University.

Medicare for All is of more concern to Democrats and progressives.

Medical Tyranny should be of equal concern to all Americans, in my opinion. What’s going on in Australia should be a wake-up call of what’s coming our way, if we don’t organize against it.

Having said this, these issues are present in the database, and whoever actually provides the Voter’s Revenge application could, and ultimately should, open it to more issues, especially trans-partisan ones. There will be admin capability to easily add issues.

Voter’s Revenge Out of Mothballs – Screen Shots

I rescued some of my Voter’s Revenge data from a dead computer, finding what I believe is the latest version of the software. I was thinking of publishing the code, but for now will still keep it private. The code is out of sync with the rescued data, which triggers some errors. Also, I haven’t kept up with the Facebook integration, which was an important aspect of the initial concept and implementation. However, given Facebook’s censoring/suppressing behavior, which went big time during the 2019 Presidential election, I now view Facebook integration as undesirable, and possibly odious.

My motivation was to possibly provide it as inspiration for others to generate an improved version, which would have been extremely useful since election day 2020, given the horrendous suppression of vote fraud that has occurred in the swing states. Given the short amount of time before the electoral votes are certified in Congress, it seems extraordinarily unlikely that a replacement can be created in the day or two it would have to be, in order to be useful in the current crisis.

Nevertheless, I will post screen shots and alert a few people. Maybe a rock star programmer will happen to notice, and do their thing.

Due to bugs appearing on the live internet site, I will content myself with just posting some screen shots, taken from my development computer. With the passage of time, I’ve come to view the fruits of my lone, somewhat rushed attempt as even uglier, more boring, and less intuitive than what I remembered. If I redo this website, it will probably be with the front end Javascript framework, vuejs, which I have been learning, of late. A re-write would more graphical, and more “target” centered (i.e., emphasizing politicians more, with their mugs and latest outrages emphasized, say with bullet points). There would also be enhancements with timeline information made more of a first class presentation facet, graphically presented.

Note: the code wasn’t written to handle the passing of the primary season in 2016, so I had to introduce some code trickery to make the application act like today’s date is 5/6/2016 (displayed in a red bar). Hence, the application would display some primaries as having already passed; and others are not having occurred, yet.

“Voter’s Revenge” Web Application Screen Shots

This is a legacy post, originally posted at correntewire.com, here, on 9/11/2015

I have previously described, in another diary here, a design for a web application that I now call “Voter’s Revenge”, and previously called “Transpartisan Negative Vote Blocs”. The Day 1 signature issue for Voter’s Revenge is that of TPP, and the Voter’s Revenge Posses are expected to, initially, all have redlines related to TPP.

In “honor” of Trump moving to make TPP a major issue (thus negating the media blackout, classification of documents, and also pathetically weak activist “actions”), I am posting some “screen shots” (actually, wireframes).
